HELLO THERE, I’M THERESA.

Welcome to Of Self and Society, a collection of stories pertaining to issues of human rights, international development, global politics/economics and journalism. Every now and then, there’ll be a post aligned with my personal interests—something off-topic but certainly still interesting.

(Note: Of Self and Society has diverged a slight bit to include travel blogging as I spend the next little while in London, UK on a work placement)

WHO IS THERESA?

My full first name is Trinh Theresa, but just call me Theresa.

I’m about to graduate from Ryerson University’s School of Journalism. Currently, I’m interning at the CBC’s (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) foreign bureau in London, UK—part of the team that brings international stories home.

That I currently straddle the worlds of media and global affairs is reflected in my interests and academic pursuits. Following my bachelor of journalism will be graduate degrees in global affairs and international development. This is part of my overall plan to fulfil a childhood dream of working within the United Nations. The UN is often criticized (and sometimes rightly so) but it is an institution that I strongly believe in.

WHAT ELSE?

Outside of school, I’m an executive member of Dreams Fulfilled Relief Organization—a not-for-profit dedicated to poverty relief and international development founded by my mother five years ago.

You can learn more about me via my LinkedIn profile.

Otherwise, thank you very much for reading.
